The question I am addressing is not whether or not being homosexual is right or wrong. I am not going to give my views on whether homosexuality is or is not a sin. What I am addressing is how we as Christians are supposed to act. I am not going to condemn or condone any lifestyle but simply to state what I feel is God's view on how we are to treat others. Please forgive some of the language I may use in this artical but I feal that it is important to show you how some people feel and act!
The bible says that God is love and that we must love others! 1 John 4:7-8 says "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." If you read the words of Jesus in the bible you will find that he tought love and kindness. Who are we to state that "God hates fags." When I read my bible I find that God is love. He is all about love. He sent Jesus to show us his love! Jesus himself always tought love and showed love! I don't believe God hates anyone!
How is it that we as Christians can claim to know God and his love and still have such a true hatred in our hearts? The following are images and statements taken from Westboro Baptist Church's www.godhatesfags.com website. In all fairness I felt I had to include a link to this site, not because I agree with anything I have seen or read there but because I felt others should take a look and see what true hatred is all about! So they can see exactly how a Christian is not supposed to act!!!
The sign in this image states that 9-11 was a gift from God! There were 2,973 people killed in the attacks on 9-11. Do these people really believe that this is God's way of punishing homosexuals? Are they saying that these nearly 3,000 individuals were all homosexuals? Are they saying that God use the very terrorist that are said to hate, persecute, and kill Christians, to do his work and to kill nearly 3,000 homosexuals? This sign and belief makes no sence!
Look at these precious children. Remember what Jesus said about little children in Matthew 18:2-6 "And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. "
What do you think God thinks about teaching these children to hate? It is bad enough when an adult wears a shirt like this and acts this way but what about a young child? Young impressional children being taught to hate homosexuals! How can you justify teaching children to use hurtful names like fags? I think that the parents of these kids and others like them should take a good long look at what they are teaching them! What if the parents of one of these kids were to wake up one morning and take their child to school just to find men in white robes holding signs saying "GOD HATES NIGGERS!" What do you think they would feel like? What is the difference? Is this what God really wants? Is this what Jesus really taught? I think not!
Luke 7:36 - Luke 7:47 "And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat. And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment. Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged. And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little."
In this passage we see where Jesus himself looked at the womans tears and had compassion on her. God doesn't hate a persons tears! It is in our time of tears that we are at the point where we can truly turn to God. We can pray all we want and use all the fancy words we want to but it doesn't cause God to see us. Do you not believe that when a homosexual is protested against, hurt, and abused to the point were they break down and cry, God sees this? Does the fact that a person is homosexual give us the right to be mean, judgmental, or hurtful! What about when a homosexual individual dies and the family is having their funeral? What do you think God thinks about a group of people holding up signs saying that the person being buried is burning in hell? Is God really pleased when a group of people cause this kind of pain to already hurting friends and family. I don't think so!
"God hates cripple solders." Does this even make any sense? Why would God hate crippled solders? Are these people trying to say that all crippled solders are homosexual and this is why God hates them? Do you think that it may be that God only hates these solders because they are crippled? If this is true does that not mean that God would hate all cripples not just solders and if so why would these people post the pictures on a "God hates fags" website? It must because they are homosexual! Don't you think? I don't know! I bet it is because all crippled solders became crippled by fighting to defend their gay lovers and that is why God hates them! But all crippled solders don't have gay lovers, do they? You know, trying to figure out what this sign is actually supposed to mean and what it has to do with homosexuals it beyond me! Do you think that this could be an excuse just to promote their hatred of homosexuals! Is it possible that God is not really the one that "hates fags" but that these people do and they feel better if they can blame it on God?
What about a sign saying "Don't pray for the U.S.A." I can not believe that a group of people who claim to be Christians would actually say not to pray for the U.S.A. or anyone else for that matter! If they really belive that being a homosexual is a sin, don't you think that praying for them would be what they should do? If it is a to be homosexual, what makes it a sin more than any other? Why does being a homosexual make God hate you but anyone else can be forgiven by God? Does any of what they are saying make sense? Do you ever see a case where you should not pray? What does the Bible say about prayer?1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
The sign in this picture says that fags are lawless and list a Bible verse. I looked up this verse to find out what it said and here it is. 2 Peter 2:8 (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) I really don't see anywhere in this verse or the verses following where it says that God hates fags. Do you? On their "God hates fags" website they point out that nowhere in the bible does it specifically use the words “Jesus loves everyone” and to say that "Jesus loves everyone" implies that you can sin as much as you want and Jesus will willy-nilly forgive you. First of all Does the bible say anywhere in it that God hates fags? I have never seen it! I don't even believe that the word fag is even in the Bible so using their own logic is there any way that they can truely say "God hates fags"? Also where do they get off by saying that just because Jesus loves everyone that anyone can sin as much as they want to? As far as I know the Bible doesn't say that either!
In a nutshell four police officers died because someone on parole didn't want to get caught and these people have threatened to go and picket the funeral of these brave men who died while trying to protect people like me and you! Although this group is probably the most outspoken about their hatred of homosexuals, it is not the only one! There are many groups, churches, and individuals who have this same type of hatred! Let me leave you with a few questions! Have you ever hurt, humiliated, or abused a homosexual? Was it right? Do you think it made God happy? How can we as Christians ever help anyone if we do not know what love is really about? How can we guide anyone to Christ if we our selves do not have the love of God in our lives and others can't see it? How can a person have this much hatred and still love God and others the way they are supposed to?
After reading this I leave you with one final thought...
Does God really hate homosexuals or are our hearts so full of
hatred that we can't see anything else? Remember, God loves us and we
must love others and that includes homosexuals!!!!!!!
